Social Studies

 

In Social Studies in S1 pupils have the opportunity to learn about Business, Geography, History and Modern Studies. S1 pupils also have a separate period of RME. The pupils' experience in S1 consists of many interesting and engaging units of work such as:

Business: What a business is, sectors of industry, entrepreneurs, choosing a business location and marketing.

Geography: Geography of Scotland, how Scotland’s landscape is formed, climate zones and the effects of climate change. 

History: The History of Scotland; from Scotland’s first people to the Scottish Wars of Independence. 

Modern Studies: A study of rights and responsibilities through looking at democracies and dictatorships and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. 

RME: Pupils study a variety of religious and moral issues, such as Christianity, animal rights and the golden rule.
